YOU're Invited!
Belonging is one of our most essential human needs—when we feel welcomed our capacity to listen expands—listening to ourselves, each other, the land, our lineages, and the songs that carry and connect us.
Join us for a full-day immersive community retreat where deep listening and embodied presence form the foundation for a joyful, soulful exploration of vocal improvisation. In a welcoming circle of fellow explorers, we’ll cross the threshold into the Vocal Wilds—where voice, movement, and creative risk become powerful gateways to connection, freedom and joy.
Come as you are. Bring your whole self — shy, bold, and everything in between. Let’s sing what has never been sung before.

WHAT TO EXPECT
This full day retreat is dedicated to the voice — your voice, and our collective voice. Set in the peaceful forest sanctuary of the Michigan Friends Center, we’ll move through guided practices that awaken the body, open the breath, and invite the voice to emerge in fresh, unexpected ways.
No prior singing experience is required—just curiosity, a willingness to listen deeply, and the courage to take creative risks within your limits.
Whether you’re an experienced vocalist or a curious beginner, you’ll leave feeling more connected to your voice—and to your innate capacity to create, express, and play.
Together, We Will:
-
Cultivate a space of deep listening, presence, and belonging
-
Witness live demonstrations of vocal improvisation
-
Build confidence in vocal play, melody, and harmony
-

-
Sing from a grounded, embodied stance

YOUR HOSTS
Tatianah
Thunberg
TatiAnah Thunberg (she/her) is a event producer, community weaver, vocalist, song leader, ceremonialist, somatic therapist, and lifelong student and guide of improvisational movement and embodied voice. At the heart of her practice is creative expression as a devotional communal act—a return to the unscripted moment where breath becomes tone, feeling becomes melody, and the individual voice finds their place within the collective song.
Her creative life is inseparable from her healing arts practice at Spirit Moves LLC. A devoted community weaver, TatiAnah believes in the power of gathering as essential medicine in these fractured times. When we come together, we witness one another’s beauty, open to our shared vulnerability, and co-create a field where relational and artistic resonance blossoms.
TatiAnah has spent over three decades producing and facilitating experiential classes, playshops, and retreats that awaken the body, soften the armor of protection, and invite creative expression and relational aliveness to reemerge. Collaboration with a diverse team who share a commitment to embodied presence and soulful creativity has always been central to her work. She takes great joy in co-creating spaces where tenderness, aliveness, and creative expression can thrive—where the capacity to play expands through our shared presence.
She finds inspiration from a rich tapestry of influences, all centered in the spontaneous intelligence of play. Her production and facilitation experience includes community singing and vocal improvisation; experiential group therapy programming; Hatha yoga, Thai massage, partner yoga, and ecstatic dance; as well as ritual and ceremony. She also draws from a background in adventure challenge programs and outdoor trip leadership, where nature and risk-taking become powerful teachers of trust and group performance. These elements are woven into her retreats, workshops and classes.
Let’s gather!
Dory
Mead
Dory Mead (she/her) is a dynamic vocalist, improviser, and educator whose work bridges the worlds of classical training, theatrical expression, and spontaneous creation. With a BMA in Vocal Performance from the University of Michigan School of Music, she trained with luminaries George Shirley and Stephen Smith and went on to perform with companies including the Aspen Music Festival Opera Program, Metro City Lyric Opera, and the Austin Shakespeare Company. A featured artist opening for Jessye Norman and a performer at the Victor Café in South Philadelphia, Dory’s eclectic repertoire spans opera, jazz, musical theater, Shakespeare and experimental works. She is currently director and head voice teacher for her program of 15 years, Mead Performing Arts.
Dory is equally at home on the concert stage and in the wild, unscripted world of vocal improvisation. She has studied with master improviser Rhiannon and is an alumna of the OperaWorks training program. A member of several improv ensembles—including A2CT’s long-form troupe Dearly Beloved and Pointless Brewery’s musical improv group Forte Factory—Dory thrives in collaborative, playful environments where sound and story emerge in real time.
As a teacher and facilitator, Dory brings warmth, humor, and a respect for each voice. She leads vocal improvisation workshops through Mead Performing Arts and Ann Arbor Civic Theatre, and has been a guest presenter in vocal improv at the University of Michigan SMTD and Residential College. Her years teaching outdoor adventure and directing retreats have honed her skill in holding brave, creative spaces for people to grow, take risks, and be surprised by their own brilliance.
Whether guiding a circle of singers through spontaneous song or helping a student find their voice, Dory invites presence, curiosity, and joy.

Irene
Soléa Antonellis
Irene Soléa Antonellis (she/her) is a music therapist, psychotherapist, life coach, vocalist, and recording artist with a lifelong career in the healing and expressive arts. She holds an M.A. in Counseling Psychology and Music Therapy from Lesley University and has led contemplative music concerts, workshops and retreats throughout the U.S. and in South America, Europe, and Asia. Nine years ago, she planted roots in Ann Arbor, MI, where she now lives with her husband and two daughters.
Irene draws musical inspiration from sacred sounds around the world and Latin folk music traditions. With a musical inheritance that includes Peruvian folk and huayno (her grandfather was Peruvian composer Manuel León), Irene blends musical traditions, the old and the new, and is known for her directness, equanimity, warmth, and humor.
Early in her career, she found a home in the vibrant a cappella communities of the Northeast, where she directed university and semi-professional vocal ensembles, toured with a cappella sextet 6Appeal, and quietly earned a few Best of Collegiate A Cappella (BOCA) nods while serving as adjunct faculty at Suffolk University. Her first solo LP, Beloved, was featured in Yoga Journal, Yoga Chicago, and on stages and studios from the Kripalu Center (MA) and Yoga Tree (CA) to the Prague Spirit Festival.
Rooted in her bicultural heritage and a deep belief in the voice as medicine, Irene is devoted to embodied practices that connect us to beauty, wholeness, and aliveness. In her private practice, one of her specialties includes working with musicians and creatives to heal trauma, build and maintain deep emotional health and groundedness, experience expressive flow, and navigate the unique challenges of liberated, nontraditional career paths. Her approach blends talk therapy with somatic modalities including Music Therapy, Brainspotting, and Parts Work, offering a dynamic and deeply grounded path to healing and self-discovery.
